Overview

Travel to locations in India where Sir Cliff Richard was born at King George Hospital, Victoria Street, Lucknow.  Travel to Dehradun where he was baptised Harry Rodger Webb at St Thomas’s Church and where he spent the first 5 years of his life before the family moved to Kolkata in East India.  

You too will follow the family’s footsteps and travel across India to Kolkata. The family lived in Howrah which is where he also went to school at St Thomas Church School. The Webb family then left India after independence in 1948 and travelled by boat to the UK when the young Harry Webb was just 8 years old.

If you are also a Beatles fan, during your tour of Rishikesh you can visit the old Ashram where the Fab Four stayed for a while in the wild hippy days of the late 60's when they came here to learn Transcendental Meditation at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi along with other famous stars of the day like Mike Love of The Beach Boys an Donovan. The Ashram is now abandon and in a poor state of repair but you can see the little stone mediation pods in the grounds. 

Outlined Itinerary

Day 01 - Delhi

Arrive Delhi, meet and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is then at leisure to relax after your flight. Extra sightseeing can be arranged if you would like to explore this afternoon.

Day 02 - Delhi

After breakfast, you will be taken on a private guided tour of Delhi. You will visit the most important sights of the city. Qutub Minar - the 239ft sandstone tower - Humayun’s Tomb; India Gate; Parliament House [exterior] and the President’s Palace. Jama Masjid - The mosque of Friday was built from 1644 to 1658. Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi – The Father of Nation, was cremated; drive past the Red Fort and a chance to wander through Chandni Chowk. Evening will be leisure.

Day 03 - Lucknow

This morning take the early train to Lucknow 0615-1230, on arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 04 - Lucknow

breakfast, you will take a private guided tour of Lucknow – Visit the great Imambara – built in the 18th century. The absence of beams and pillars in the huge main hall is an architectural achievement and Lucknow Residency where the British resident lived, picture gallery exhibiting excellent full-sized portraits of the Nawabs of Audh. During your tour you will visit King George Hospital which is where Sir Cliff Richard was born as Harry Roger Webb on the 14th October 1940 to Rodger Oscar Webb and Dazely Marie Webb.

Day 05 - Narendra Nagar

Early morning you will be transferred to Lucknow airport to board your flight for Delhi 0650-0750. Arrive Delhi and proceed to board your connecting flight to Dehradun 1020-1120. On arrival in Dehradun, you will be met and taken for a tour of town to where the family lived during Sir Cliff Richards’s first 5 years. Then later transfer to Narendra Nagar [01 Hr]. Arrive Narendra Nagar at Ananda Spa then the rest of the day is then at leisure.

Day 06 - Narendra Nagar

Day 06 – Narendra Nagar After breakfast morning at leisure to enjoy spa treatments if you wish then later this afternoon you will take a private guided tour of Rishikesh. Visiting sites like Lakshman Jhula – the suspension iron bridge was built in 1929, Bharat Mandir, Rishikund, Raghunath Temple, Triveni Ghat the most important places for religious ceremonies in Rishikesh and Geeta Bhawan. Evening is at leisure.

Day 07 - Narendra Nagar

After breakfast, morning will be at leisure for spa treatments if you wish. Later in the afternoon, you will take a private guided tour of Haridwar. Visiting sites like Daksh Prajapati Temple, Anand Mai Ashram, Parad (Mercury) Shivling in Kankhal region, Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi(both by ropeway). Later in the evening visit Har – Ki – Pauri to view the holy Ganges Aarti.

Day 08 - Kolkata

Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Dehradun airport to board your flight for Delhi 1150-1250. Arrive Delhi and proceed to board your flight for Kolkata 1700-1855. Arrive Kolkata and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 09 - Kolkata

After breakfast, proceed for a full day city tour visiting Dalhousie Square (Covering Raj Bhavan, High Court, GPO, Town Hall, Writer’s Building and other important colonial buildings), Flower Market, Howrah Bridge, Kumhartoli (The Potter’s Village), Marble Palace, Indian Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral Church, Victoria Memorial and Mother Teresa’s House. Today you will also visit St Thomas’s School, Church Road, Howrah; where he went to school and to his home at 59 Ross Road, Howrah.

Day 10 - Delhi

Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Kolkata airport to board your flight for Delhi 1325-1530. Arrive Delhi and rest of the day will at leisure.

Day 11 - Delhi

Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Delhi International airport to connect with your homebound or onwards flight... or travel to your next destination if you would like to add to this tour.
