Sikkim Village Walk

DELHI (1) - RINCHENPONG (4) - DARJEELING (2) - DEL (1) = 8 nights

They say a soft tread or a walk by you opens lots of doors ahead. It truly does when you do it as a travel activity, trying to explore the destinations in the authentic fashion just like the ancient travellers did!!

Overview

Walking tours or trekking tours in the eastern hills has become very popular in the recent past. The rambler spirit is brought alive by the natural beauty and the simple villages that are brimming with warmth and charm. One gets to traverse through the varied vegetation and the unsophisticated but magical set up.

You can begin gearing up for the hills with a little quick action half day introduction to old and New Delhi. Apart from the colonial buildings and the Mughal architectural samples, you also get a blink and miss experience of the Red Fort in old Delhi. You embrace the eastern mountains Yangsum onwards. The village Rinchenpong is the core point of the tour from where the tryst with the beautiful hills begins. The Yangsum farm is a nice set up with all the modern amenities and a lush green forest left to discovery. If you can sacrifice your early morning tea and visit the monastery you can hear the monks recite the prayers in the monastery.

With the whole day kept for village walk, the full day excursion to Radhu village is surely going to be a promising one as Radhu happens to be the most impressive of these. Sangdungee village is located below the Himalayas granting you few of the best shots to be captured.  All this while, you can also enjoy the stay and also the authentic Sikkimese food that is cooked in the village. After having soaked the village magic within you drive past the lush green tea gardens towards Darjeeling. One word that describes this town is ‘timeless’. The whole town is strewn with colonial buildings and markets and till date has the toy train intact! You get to travel in it from Darjeeling to Ghoom which is a beautiful ride as if through the fairy tale forests of elves and angels!

Truly one gets to capture numerous moments which continue to refresh your mind long after you have ended your journey.
