Nepal to Darjeeling Overland

Overview

This particular tour is specially designed to keep all such interests in mind. The tour kick starts at Delhi which gears you up for your next destination Kathmandu the beautiful capital of Nepal. The city is a cultural delight with ancient temples, gompas, Royal palaces, and Bahals the Buddhist courtyards.

The city is also known for the coronation courtyards like the famous Durbar Square and the Nasal Chowk. They are wooden structures worth appreciating for their craftsmanship. The next destination Chitwan somehow always stands out because of the sheer beauty and the wide range of activities that it offers.

The Chitwan National Park in the South of Nepal plains is a heaven on earth. It was established in 1973. The park has the rare distinction of nurturing more than 45 species of butterflies, 40 species of mammals and more than 50 varieties of vegetation. It has a different landscape to sport in each season. The Chitwan ecosystem is home to the single horned rhino. There are several other animals and endless varieties of birds to spot and watch.

There is another special place that has the best views of the Himalayas-Nagarkot. This is located on the edge of the Kathmandu valley. There are watch towers in Nagarkot which gives a 360 degree view of the mountains. There is nothing more humbling than watching the sun rise in its full grandeur over the snow-capped peaks of the lofty Himalayas.

The very first glance leaves you totally feeling one with that moment! After such a spiritual experience the next two destinations Kurseong and Darjeeling, add on to the charm. One is the land of the White Orchid and the other happens to be the favourite of several poets and writers for being their inspiration.

The dense woods, moss laden forests,  gurgling brooks and rivulets, simple and warm inhabitants and absolutely nothing to keep you away from the best holiday ever!!

Outlined Itinerary

Day 01 - Delhi

Arrive Delhi, meet and transfer to your hotel. Later proceed for orientation tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit Qutub Minar – the 239ft sandstone tower. Drive past the India Gate; Parliament House [exterior] and the President’s Palace. Visit Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi – The Father of Nation was cremated. Drive past the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.

Day 02 - Kathmandu

Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Delhi airport to board your flight for Kathmandu 1255-1440. Arrive Kathmandu and rest of the day will at leisure.

Day 03 - Kathmandu

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast at the hotel, you will take a private full day guided tour of Kathmandu city & Swayambhunath. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square; there are around 50 temples in the vicinity. Later visit Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. It is also known as the Monkey Temple. Evening is at leisure.

Day 04 - Kathmandu

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast at the hotel you will take a private guided excursion tour to Patan City – the old Newar city and see the historic Durbar Square. Later visit Bungamati – the birthplace of the Kathmandu Valley’s guardian deity and then visit Khokana ancient oil presses can be seen at work in village houses. Evening is at leisure.

Day 05 - Chitwan National Park

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast you will drive to Chitwan [06 Hrs]. Arrive Chitwan and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. FULL BOARD

Day 06 - Chitwan National Park

Morning you will proceed for jungle safari. Return to hotel and after breakfast day is at leisure to relax at the hotel. Later proceed for different Jungle activities like – Jungle walk etc. FULL BOARD

Day 07 - Chitwan National Park

Morning you will proceed for bird watching. Return to hotel and after breakfast day is at leisure to relax at the hotel. After lunch proceed for visit to Tharu village. FULL BOARD

Day 08 - Nagarkot

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast you will drive to Nagarkot [07 Hrs]. Arrive Nagarkot and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. HALF BOARD

Day 09 - Nagarkot

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast, begin your soft hike from Tilkot (hike start point) and commence a downhill walk to Changunarayan (approx. 2.5 hours leisure walk). Evening is at leisure. HALF BOARD

Day 10 - Kurseong

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast you will drive to Kathmandu airport [01 Hr.]. Arrive Kathmandu airport and you will board your flight for Bhadrapur in east Nepal 1135-1225. Arrive Bhadrapur and then drive across the border into India to Kurseong [4 Hrs]. Arrive Kurseong and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day will be at leisure. FULL BOARD

Day 11 - Kurseong

Breakfast is at the Hotel. After breakfast proceed for visit to Makaibari Tea Estate. Rest of the day is at leisure. FULL BOARD

Day 12 - Darjeeling

After breakfast, morning will be at leisure. At an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Kurseong railway station to connect with your Toy Train to Darjeeling 1500-1750. Arrive Darjeeling & transfer to hotel. FULL BOARD

Day 13 - Darjeeling

Early morning, you will visit Tiger Hill & Ghoom Monastery. Later, after breakfast enjoy full day sightseeing tour of the town visiting Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Tenzing - Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center (Closed on Sunday). Evening is at leisure. FULL BOARD

Day 14 - Delhi

After breakfast, you will drive to Bagdogra (3 Hrs) airport to connect with your flight to Delhi 1335-1710. Arrive Delhi and transfer to your hotel .Rest of the day will be at leisure to pursue independent activities.
