This special tour brings you to Kolkata to witness firsthand just what the Hope Foundation is doing in the city. Hope rescues thousands of children from the street and slums of Kolkata, helping improve their quality of life and give them a better future.

Overview

In 1690 the British East India Company founded Calcutta (Kolkata) as a trading post on the marshy east bank of the Hooghly River. Full of holy men, gurus and street temples, Calcutta has been called the soul of India, but it is perhaps also her conscience. 

This special tour brings you to Kolkata to witness firsthand just what the Hope Foundation is doing in the city. Hope rescues thousands of children from the street and slums of Kolkata, helping improve their quality of life and give them a better future. 

The Hope Foundation goal is to give children back their childhoods so they thrive and can graduate to adulthood with a good education, employable skills and a sense of self-worth. Mystic India will donate £50 per person for every adult booking this special tour. 

Your next stop is Darjeeling in the east Himalayan Foothills. Stay at Glenburn which is one of the best looking tea plantations, we love it here. The ethereal experience is well enhanced by the impeccable services of the staff. The place has all the ingredients of a fairy tale holiday!  Gorgeous valleys, a crystal clear river, a bird list that has 101 species to boast of, magnificent views of the lofty peaks, getting to learn about 'two leaves and a bud' from the guide who will gladly take you around the tea estates.

Right from the first sip of the tea while gazing at the mountains from the huge window of your room, till you soak your feet in the soothing river water after a busy day hiking or walking through the village, you are surely going to fall in love with this place. 

From fishing, angling, beauty treatments to cookery classes you have it all here. It’s a perfect place for a short break from the mundane city life. Outlined Itinerary

Day 01 - Kolkata
Arrive Kolkata, meet and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your flight.
Day 02 - Kolkata
After breakfast, enjoy full day sightseeing tour of Kolkata visiting Indian Museum, Park Street, Maidan and Fort William, Rabindra Sadan, Aurbindo Bhavan and Bhuwalka Bhawan. The evening is scheduled for more places like St Paul's Cathedral & Mother Teresa's homes.
Day 03 - Kolkata
After breakfast your driver is as your disposal all day, enabling you to see firsthand the amazing work of the charity. See the Hope Foundation’s projects which support and rescue vulnerable children living in the streets and slums of Kolkata. Their projects include protection homes, educational projects, the HOPE Hospital and a vocational training centre. You will have lunch at the Life skills Café where you can enjoy the delicious food produced by the young trainees themselves. Later return to your hotel then at leisure.
Day 04 - Glenburn
After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Kolkata domestic airport to connect with your flight to Bagdogra 1225-1330. Arrive Bagdogra and drive to Glenburn located near to Darjeeling (3 Hrs). Arrive at the Tea Estate, check in then at leisure.
Day 05 - Glenburn
Day is at leisure to relax or pursue independent activities available at Glenburn Tea Estate.
Day 06 - Glenburn
Early morning, you will visit Tiger Hill & Ghoom Monastery. Later, you will visit Tibetan Refugee Centre (Closed on Sunday), HMI & Zoo (Closed on Thursday). Also enjoy a ride on the Toy Train.
Day 07 - Kolkata
After breakfast, you will drive to Bagdogra airport to connect with your flight to Kolkata 1415-1515. On arrival meet and transfer to the international terminal for your homebound flight or on-wards arrangements if you would like to add to this tour.

  • Maybe exchange a few nights in hotels for homestays
  • What about shortening the duration a little
  • If you want to do your own sightseeing and not have a private guide, then this will help bring the price down a little.
  • What about travelling in low season, there are some very good offers around for travel in April and May.

  • For a more in-depth experience we can arrange for a private guide to accompany you throughout your tour, travelling with you.
  • For real luxury, we can organise a private jet instead of the normal domestic carriers.
  • If time allows may we suggest that you add in some extra days to really soak up some of the locations, or perhaps a spell beachside at the end of your tour.
