DELHI (3) – KANHA NP (3) - MUMBAI (2) - WAYANAD (3) - NEELESHWAR (3) - MUMBAI (1) = 15 nights

Meet Tara the Elephant, see the Taj Mahal, and take a Safari in Kanha NP for tiger & wildlife spotting. You also have the opportunity to see firsthand the work the Elephant Family charity has been doing in an area called Wayanad.

Overview

Meet Tara the Elephant, see the Taj Mahal, and take a Safari in Kanha NP for tiger & wildlife spotting. You will also visit Mumbai home to the glamour and glitz of Bollywood, the city is one of the most happening places in India.

You will visit Elephanta Island and a tour of the city. Then travel to South India where you have the opportunity to see firsthand the work the Elephant Family charity has been doing in an area called Wayanad. 

Then finally travel to the Malabar Coat for a few days to relax beachside, a wonderful way to end this fantastic tour. 

Mystic India will make a donation of £70 per person to the Elephant Family Charity for every adult booking this unique trip.

Outlined Itinerary

Day 01 - Delhi
Arrive Delhi where you are met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is then at leisure to relax after your flight. Optional extra sightseeing can be arranged for this afternoon or a driver at your disposal, ask for details.
Day 02 - Delhi
After breakfast you will be taken on a private guided tour of Delhi. You will visit the most important sights of the city. Qutub Minar - the 239ft sandstone tower; Humayun’s Tomb; India Gate; Parliament House [exterior] and the President’s Palace. Jama Masjid - The mosque of Friday was built from 1644 to 1658. Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi – The Father of Nation, was cremated; drive past the Red Fort and a chance to wander through Chandni Chowk. Later evening will be leisure.
Day 03 - Delhi
Early morning you will be met and transferred to New Delhi Railway station for the train to Agra 0615-0812. Visit Agra Fort, Sikandar and Itmad-Ud-Daulah. Evening enjoy sunset visit to Taj Mahal. Late evening, you will be transferred to Agra Railway station for your train to Delhi arriving around 2230 hrs. Meet at Delhi Railway station and transfer to your hotel.
Day 04 - Kanha NP
Early morning you will be met and transferred to Delhi domestic airport to connect with your flight to Jabalpur 0650-0850. On arrival in Jabalpur, you will be met and drive to Kanha (4 Hrs). Safaris included and FULL BOARD
Day 05 - Kanha NP
Over the next two days, you have the opportunity to enjoy a day with Tara the elephant. Meet her in person, Tara is the elephant that Mr Mark Shand rode across India and then formed the Elephant Family charity. We have also included two game safaris into the park by jeep. Elephant Safaris are also available but subject to tiger sightings, payable locally. Safaris included and FULL BOARD
Day 06 - Kanha NP
Today is a leisure day so you can either take one or both of your game drives or spend the day with Tara. Extra elephant back safaris into the park can be arranged and paid for locally, subject to tiger sightings. Safaris included and FULL BOARD
Day 07 - Mumbai
Early this morning bid farewell to your hosts and drive to Nagpur airport (6 hrs) for your flight to Mumbai this afternoon 1705-1830. On arrival, meet and transfer to your city based hotel. The rest of the day is then at leisure.
Day 08 - Mumbai
This morning you are taken across by boat to Elephanta Island to see the temple carved into solid rock. Return to land early this afternoon, then after lunch proceed on a tour of the city.
Day 09 - Wayanad
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to southern India. You will fly to Calicut 1135-1315. On arrival transfer by road to Wayanad district. Here you will stay for 3 nights at this wonderful coffee plantation. Your hosts Victor and Jini are wonderful hosts and will make you feel very welcome. You have the opportunity to stay in one their two tree houses, ask for details. FULL BOARD
Day 10 - Wayanad
Today you are taken to visit the local Edakkal Caves, and the Jain Temple in Sulthans Battery. Walking trails within Tranquil Plantation can also be arranged, along with a show around of how the coffee is produced. FULL BOARD
Day 11 - Wayanad
Today your driver is at your disposal for local drives or just relax at Tranquil Plantation and take in the surrounding tropical life, see how the coffee is grown, of go for a trek on the plantation with some stunning views, especially from breakfast point. For those that are interested in seeing the local project the Elephant Family have been involved with, please let us know so we can pre arrange a visit today with a representative from the Wildlife Trust of India. Day 12 - Neeleshwar
Today after a hearty breakfast you bid farewell to Victor and his family then drive to the coast (5 hrs), to an area called Neeleshwar. This is a new coastal fishing region that is opening up in north Kerala. You are then beach side for the next 3 nights.
Day 13 - Neeleshwar
Local tours can be arranged, or have some spa treatments, visit local villages or just relax by the pool or on the empty beach.
Day 14 - Neeleshwar
Leisure day with local activities to be arranged if you wish.
Day 15 - Mumbai
Transfer to Mangalore Airport (3 hrs) for your flight to Mumbai 1440-1600, arrive later this afternoon and transfer to an airport hotel. Rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.
Day 16 - Mumbai
Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Mumbai International airport to connect with your homebound or onwards flight... or travel to your next destination if you would like to add to this tour.

  • We can upgrade your private vehicle to eg; a Mercedes for around town sightseeing, but would recommend the more robust Toyota Innova or similar for longer road journeys.
  • For a more in-depth experience we can arrange for a private guide to accompany you throughout your tour, travelling with you.
  • For real luxury, we can organise a private jet instead of the normal domestic carriers.
