Discover Bhutan

THIMPHU (2) - GANGTEY (2) - PUNAKHA (2) - PARO (2) = 8 nights

Bhutan is not just about visiting the showcased points or places, it is a land that gradually expects the traveller to interact and become part of the life that is in Bhutan.

Overview

The Bhutanese culture is well preserved and is fiercely guarded too. It is liberal but religious which is the main reason why tourism is not allowed to ride the economy overwhelmingly. Each tourist therefore gets the best there is in Bhutan, be it the service or the entire experience as such. It slowly penetrates into one’s self that life can be good and better without traffic lights too, without rigorous planning also and that laidback always doesn’t mean lethargy but it means contentment in minimum means.

Right from Paro, with the Queen mother’s Palace or the mesmerising Taktshang Hermitage, the journey helps you touch the inner silence very fast. The well-known monastic school at Thimpu and the ancient Dzongs all weave the same magic. The slight rain or the cloudy mist, the orange draped little monks or the hard working ladies have something in common- the quality to bring a smile on your face. Gangtey at a height of 3000mts is one of the most stunning glacial valleys.

The famous 17th century monastery is worth a visit. It is a virtual paradise when visited by the black necked cranes which migrate from the Tibetan Plateau. The last destination of this journey before returning to Paro is Punakha which is almost around the Dochhula Pass. Treks to Chorten Nigpo pass through several villages giving a glimpse of the Bhutanese rural life. The Khamsum Yuley Temple is the most elaborate temple in Bhutan.

There is so much about Bhutan that remains undiscovered in the first visit; an easy self-made excuse to keep coming here again!!
