Darjeeling Carnival is a ten-day carnival arranged in the town of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. The carnival celebrated around the end of December to begining of January consists of several functions like poetry-reading sessions, painting and photo exhibitions, tea-drinking ceremonies, a Land Rover rally, music concerts and ethnic food festivals.

Overview

It is very said that the culture and the richness of the heritage can only be preserved and saved if the people vow to do so. This is a very delicate and also the most precious legacy that is always passed on through the generations. Culture not only adds meaning to the human civilization but at times more than one act as a binding factor for it. The Darjeeling Festival or Carnival as it is popularly known as is one such event that not only exhibits the treasure in the Himalayan Hills but has over the years been instrumental in mobilising and motivating one and all in the Darjeeling hills to collectively revive and rejoice the greatness of the timeless town.

The Festival takes place in the month of November and continues to enthral for ten good days. It has a lot to offer each time. There are rock concerts, poetry sessions, painting and photo exhibitions apart from tea festival and ethnic food festival. The organisers are a young lot who have taken it upon themselves to make it a thumping success every year. There are adventure sports, kite flying competitions, folk dances like the mask dance of Nepal and also musings like the momo eating competition!! The entire city is full of a new life and spirit of togetherness and belonging apart from celebrations and festivities.

It is one of the most visited by people within the country as well as tourists from all over. It is quite a good idea to experience something other than admiring just the mountains and the natural beauty of this charming destination!!

Outlined Itinerary

Day 01 - Kolkata
Arrive Kolkata, meet and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is then at leisure to relax and relax after your flight. Extra sightseeing can be arranged if you would like to explore this afternoon.
Day 02 - Darjeeling
After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Kolkata domestic airport to connect with your flight to Bagdogra 1225-1330. Arrive Bagdogra and drive to Darjeeling. Arrive Darjeeling and check in at the hotel. FULL BOARD
Day 03 - Darjeeling
Early morning, you will visit Tiger Hill & Ghoom Monastery. Later, you will visit Tibetan Refugee Centre (Closed on Sunday), HMI & Zoo (Closed on Thursday), In the afternoon, you will walk to Bhutia Busty Monastery & Observatory Hill. FULL BOARD
Day 04 - Darjeeling
After breakfast you are free to enjoy the festival with your guide. Evening is at leisure to relax and explore. FULL BOARD
Day 05 - Kolkata
After breakfast, you will drive to Bagdogra airport to connect with your flight to Kolkata 1415-1515. Arrive Kolkata and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day will be at lesiure to pursue independent activities.
Day 06 - Kolkata
Breakfast is at the Hotel. Today at an appropriate time, you will be met and transferred to Kolkata International airport to connect with your homebound or onwards flight... or travel to your next destination if you would like to add to this tour.
