Agra home to the Taj Mahal, located 5 hours drive south of Delhi in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Agra came into limelight during the rule of the Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi who had made it the capital of his empire. At the time of the Moghuls, in the 16th and 17th centuries, Agra was the capital of India and its superb monuments date from that era.
