It is easy to get swept away by the huge variety and enticing aromas of Indian cuisine. Each of India’s 28 states have distinct specialties, with their own flavour and cooking techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Rajasthan is no different. Let our chefs pamper you by putting together a meal of your choice that reflects the local cuisine. At The Tree of Life Resort & Spa, our chefs can suggest selections highlighting the state’s culinary traditions that suit your own taste buds. If it is international cuisine you’re after, you need not worry. Our chefs can offer virtually any type of cuisine, again based on what you crave that day. The choices are endless.

We also encourage you to take a walk around our “Eternal Garden” with one of our chefs and choose fresh salads and vegetables based on what strikes your fancy. The garden is part of our organic foods initiative, a project that ensures that our offerings are as fresh as possible. It is maintained by farmers who live adjacent to the resort – they’ll even help you plan your own organic garden if you’d like!

Want to try your hand in the kitchen? Jump behind the stove and learn the fine art of Indian cuisine, with our chef serving as your assistant!

Hi-tea with The Tigers, Lions and Elephant  (3 hours)

Just 15 minutes drive from the Resort, is the 54 sq.kms. Nahargarh Bio-Reserve which houses the Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre for tigers and lions. On arrival at the gate of the Reserve, you drive in a jeep to visit an ancient step well and Lord Ganesha Temple. This was also a trading and silk route. From here you board your elephant and do a safari through the nature reserve with over 200 species of birds. Make a stop to see the tigers and lions in rehabilitation. We then drive you to a hillock with a beautiful view of the Aravali Valley where you are served hi-tea, after which we drive you back to the Resort.

Dinner With Your Elephant ( 3 hours )

A short drive from The Tree of Life Resort & Spa brings you to the foothills of the Aravali range. Your elephant welcomes you, while you feed it with bananas. Sitting atop, it takes you through the small village and the hill side, with a multitude of birds. A meal with local delicacies follows.

Willys & High Tea ( 2 hours )

A 1965 Willys Jeep belonging to an erstwhile Maharaja drives you to visit the homes of our local villagers – simple, warm and welcoming. Interact with their families and learn how they live. Drive further through the hills to the peace and quiet of a hillock. And as you sip your tea or coffee along with local delicacies and the setting sun, a group of villagers play traditional instruments and take you back in time.

Teach a While ( 1 hour )

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to study under a tree, or use chalk and slate instead of pen and paper, much less a computer? The Tree of Life Resort & Spa actively supports the nearby Kukas School and has also instituted the Balika Scholarship (Balika means young girl) to assist in the education of underprivileged young girls. Join the students as they go through their day at school and yes – teach them a subject that is of interest to you! (School timings apply.)

Back to Basics ( 90 minutes )

Caught up in your hectic city life, how often have you desired but not managed to do the basics in life – like riding a tractor or tilling the fields. We take you on a tractor around our village (you can also try your hand at driving one!) and show you the homes of our villagers. Visit their fields, dirty your hands digging up vegetables (seasonal) and experience how they live with little, but happily.

Meet the Family (75 minutes)

Gyarsilal and his family have been tilling the fields around our Resort for four generations. Part of the land on which the Resort is built belonged to him. Gyarsilal and his daughter are now employed with us – a new lease to their lives. Visit his home and meet the family – simple, warm and caring. There is a 700 years old temple next door which is used by the villagers even today. And yes, do not miss the school nearby which is actively supported by the Resort with our ‘Balika Scholarship’. Interact with the children as they go through their morning studies - school timings apply.

The Potters Story ( 2 hours )

Chaaju, whose family has been here for three generations, lives close to the resort. A potter by profession, he is one of the few who still uses a special mud and the deft skills of his hands to create pots and the likes on his potter’s wheel. Spend some time at the village temple, followed by a visit to Chaaju’s home where he will show you his art. Try your hands at the potters wheel under his supervision.

Trek a While ( 2 hours )

The Resort is nestled between the Aravali Hills and makes an ideal base for a soft trek. Accompanied by one of our villagers and your picnic hamper, you trek through the forest area, loosing yourself to the quiet which surrounds you. Walk by a sacred tree which has been there for decades and is considered to have healing powers. Villagers visit this tree every week-end. Enjoy your snacks and coffee on the way back.

Explore on Wheels

Take a mountain-bikes and ride through our friendly village to explore the surroundings for your self.

ALMOST IMPOSSIBLY ROMANTIC

Weddings and “Yours Again” Vows ( 3 hours )

Enhance the joy of coming together for a lifetime at your wedding ceremony or then renew your vows again around the ‘sacred fire’ as the priest chants ‘shlokas’ (lines) from the Vedas, with poignant music in the background. Follow this with a private spa treatment for two at your luxury villa with your own private pool and a candle light  dinner overlooking the forest.

The Chef in You ( 3 hours )

Delight your partner by cooking up an amazing Indian meal. Your experience begins by going to the local market in an ‘auto rickshaw’ (three-wheeled scooter) and buying all the essentials for the meal. Return and don the chef’s hat! With guidance from our chef, you will learn the delightful art of Indian cooking and rustle up a delectable meal for two. We also present you with a Tree of Life Cook Book and an apron to take home as a souvenir.

Just for Two ( 2 hours )

What would you give to surprise your partner with chilled sparkling wine, evocative classical music from the deserts of Rajasthan, complete with a candlelit table and a canopy of stars above? We can help make your dream come true with all this and more, in the privacy of the garden in your own luxury villa.
