A newly renovated cottage in the heart of the city, Matra Chaya is filled with sumptuous Indian furnishings. The host’s father was the official record keeper for the Maharaja of Jaipur and is very knowledgeable about the region’s history.

Matra Chaya is a modern and newly renovated bungalow in the very heart of the city. It is the home of Dr Shailesh and his wife, Dr Abha, visited by their two children from time to time. Each evening they are free and they enjoy meeting new people and ensuring that their guests make the most of everything Jaipur has to offer, from shopping to Polo matches!

The house is very near the ‘Birla Mandir’ temple and Moti Dungri fort; the sights and bazaars of the Old City are a few minutes’ drive away.

The bungalow has a sleek sense of modernity merged with traditional qualities: for instance, the large central dining room has marble floors, immaculate white walls and modern furniture, but is bordered by traditional Indian day-beds and cushions and opens onto the family puja room in the corner where worship takes place.

Despite its prime location so close to the Old City, Matrachhaya exudes tranquility, a luxury in the busy metropolis of Jaipur.
