A grand, traditional Rajasthani home filled with an impressive collection of art and antiques, Madhu Pushp Bhavan is run by a prestigious Raipur family – the host’s father was Chief-Conservator of wildlife in Rajasthan.

This enormous house of traditional Rajasthani architecture is currently lived in by three generations of the same family. Two stone elephants are placed outside to welcome guests on their arrival and the interior of the house has an aura of grandeur, without being intimidating.

The central lobby is dominated by a sweeping staircase and galleried landing; a huge chandelier illuminates family heirlooms, colorful ornaments and intricately painted ceilings. Guests can join the family for meals or be served in a separate dining room decorated with Rajasthani mirror work.

The verandas of the house curve around a large lawn, ornamented with a fountain and pagoda where guests can sit and read in style; indeed, this area has even been the set for a film! Guests are unlikely to forget the first welcome here, garlanded with flowers and given the customary bindi.
