The two Villas are an architectural blend of traditional stone & wood, (typical of Himachali hill-homes) and modern glass windows, customized veranda’s, pantries/kitchens, etc.
Access to owner’s organic farm and orchard, rainwater harvesting, solar heating, electricity backup, eco friendly construction, the homes are set among natural indigenous forests with rich flora & fauna.
This architecture has harmoniously captured the spectacular view from all rooms. The spacious bedrooms with attached baths are tastefully furnished and have all necessary modern amenities with the added luxury of a private verandah each.The large gardens have private spaces well suited to spend a restful day watching the various moods and colours of the Ranges or reading, and the well appointed living and dining room make for an ideal place to settle into for the evenings.
Meals are home cooked - North Indian and Himachali, with like vegetables and milk products coming fresh everyday from the owner’s nearby organic farm and orchard.
As the Villas are set among natural indigenous Himalayan forests with rich flora & fauna, activities like horse riding, treks and walks of varied levels with or without a guide, bird watching, cycling, interactive participatory horticultural farming and dairy initiatives, picnic lunches, as well as taxi services to places of nearby tourist interest (Kufri, Naldhera Golf Course, Shimla town, Chail, Narkanda, etc.) make for pleasantly varied days. During the evening, one can enjoy the log fire in the living room and choose from the small library of books, magazines, DVDs, Television with Tata Sky & DVD player, and board games for entertainment. Wi-Fi is available when the weather permits!
The owners
Harsh and Uma Mahajan belong to Himachal. They have travelled and lived in various parts of the state for both work and pleasure through the major parts of their lives. On an impulse a couple of years ago, they found Dak Bangla and have since enjoyed the magic of its delightful environment.
