Found on 40 acres next to the Dal lake, Almond Villa is an old heritage hunting lodge offering five guest rooms. Drenched in history and surrounded by birdlife, the hosts are a royal kashmiri pundit family and avid supporters of the wildlife tourism industry and local culture.

Almond Villa’ is a colonial structure located amidst forty acres of orchards next to the Dal Lake. A half an hour journey from Srinagar airport and an easy 20 minutes walk from the bustling Dal Gate area, the house awaits its guests in its pristine surroundings.

Viv Chauhan, of royal Kashmiri pundit family, is the generous host of Almond Villa. Encouraging local culture, the homestay is also the venue for the Dara Shikoh Centre for the arts. It organizes heritage, music, theatre and environment awareness programs for those who want to experience and become a part of the local culture.

The ancestral mansion’s frontal lounge offers a perfect view of famous Dal Lake, surrounded by lush green mountains. The house has its own front and back garden full of variety of flowers. Almond Villa has five spacious double bedrooms with attached bathroom.

Embroidered drapes and woven carpets used in contrast with wooden ceiling and roof of the spacious rooms give guests a feel of staying in subtle royal yet cozy atmosphere. The house is located on the flank of the Shankaracharya hill with the famous Shiv stone temple (finds its origin in the 4th century) at the summit.
